A plug-in hybrid vehicle’s driving range depends on the vehicle’s features and also how it is used.
The electric driving range mainly depends on the traction battery capacity (expressed in kWh). The greater the capacity, the longer you will be able to drive fully electric. In the case of Renault plug-in hybrid technology, where the battery is charged by plugging into the mains but also by recovering kinetic energy while driving, the fully electric driving range is guaranteed up to 100 km (in WLTP mixed use). To make the most of your vehicle and fuel savings, you need to charge it as often as possible.
The total driving range of a plug-in hybrid car is greater than that of a petrol car, since you can alternate between several energy sources. In town, when the electric motor(s) take(s) over, the internal combustion engine is not used much or at all, which saves fuel. On the motorway, even when the traction battery is flat, you benefit from hybrid powertrain operation that optimises your fuel consumption.
