Yes, temperature has an impact on the car’s driving range, especially low temperatures. Both the motor and the heating use the battery. The battery will therefore discharge faster when the car is heated and will not be able to provide the motor with electricity for as long.
Our advice for maintaining good driving range in winter:
- If you can, park your vehicle inside.
- Activate the vehicle’s preconditioning system when it is plugged in. This way, the battery will be used for the motor and not for adjusting the temperature.
- Make sure your tyres are properly inflated.
Our dedicated solution: Renault Megane E-Tech 100% electric includes a heat pump to recover the heat generated by the battery and motor to heat the cabin. So you can manage your car’s driving range better, even in winter.
Tip: the heated seats and steering wheel (winter pack) enhance your thermal comfort while optimising your electric vehicle’s overall consumption.
