one-pedal

the new electric driving experience
Renault one pedal
What is the one-pedal function?
No need to alternate between the accelerator and brake!
The one-pedal function simplifies urban driving by allowing you to control acceleration and braking with a single pedal. When you release the accelerator, the vehicle gradually slows to a complete stop, offering a smoother, more intuitive ride.

the benefits of the one-pedal function

driving comfort
With the primary use of the accelerator, the one-pedal function makes for smoother, less effortful driving. It's ideal for everyday urban driving, especially in heavy traffic.
optimised driving range
The one-pedal function is the maximum level of regenerative braking, optimising energy recovery with each deceleration.
reduced brake wear
With regenerative braking, brake pads and discs are subjected to less stress, and wear less quickly, reducing wear-related costs.

one-pedal, how does it work?

use
Using the steering wheel-mounted paddles, you can adjust the intensity of regenerative braking, with the one-pedal function as the maximum level.
Renault one pedal
accelerating
Press the accelerator pedal sufficiently to pick up speed.
Renault one pedal
slowing down
Release the pedal gradually: the further you release it, the greater the deceleration.
Renault one pedal
stopping
Release the accelerator pedal completely to bring your vehicle to a halt.
how it works
One-pedal is an advanced regenerative braking feature, activated during deceleration to make driving smoother and more efficient.
Renault one pedal
how does regenerative braking work?
When you slow down, regenerative braking converts the vehicle's kinetic energy into electricity. Instead of being dissipated as heat, as with conventional brakes, this energy is recovered by the electric motor and fed back into the battery.

In other words, the energy recovery system allows the electric battery to recharge during deceleration or when the brake pedal is applied, optimising the electric vehicle's range.

your questions about one-pedal

How do I know if my vehicle is one-pedal compatible?
The one-pedal function is available depending on the model and production year of your electric vehicle:
  • Renault 4 E-Tech electric starting from the techno version,
  •  All 2025 versions of Megane E-Tech electric and available as a retrofit on previous models produced from March 2024 with steering-wheel-mounted paddles

For vehicles eligible for retrofit, if your vehicle meets these criteria, you can activate one-pedal when you next visit the Renault network, or via remote update (FOTA) if your vehicle is compatible.
How to use the one-pedal function?
The one-pedal function is particularly effective in town and in traffic jams, where it reduces the need to alternate between the gas pedal and the brake, offering a smoother, less tiring ride. It's also ideal for downhill driving, as it allows you to better manage your speed with gradual deceleration.
On roads and motorways, the function can be used, but needs to be adapted for harder braking, particularly to ensure optimum control at higher speeds.

The one-pedal function is an additional driver-assistance system that does not replace driver vigilance. The driver must always remain in control of the vehicle, especially when emergency braking is required.
How do you manage driving with the one-pedal function?
To manage your driving with the one-pedal function:
  • anticipate slowdowns by adjusting throttle pressure,
  • adapt your driving to the type of road and traffic conditions,
  • keep in mind that the brake pedal remains available when needed (for harder or emergency braking).

Good to know: when reversing, the one-pedal function goes into standby mode and its indicator light turns grey. The function reactivates automatically in position D (drive) as soon as you exceed a certain speed threshold, and the icon turns blue to confirm its activation.
What are the operating limits of one-pedal?
On low-grip surfaces (frost, snow, etc.), we recommend using only the first levels of regenerative braking. On steep inclines, if the accelerator pedal is completely released, the one-pedal function may not be sufficient to keep the vehicle stationary. In this case, we recommend using the brake pedal, the electronic parking brake or the handbrake, depending on your model.
Can I disable the one-pedal function?
You can disable the one-pedal function:
  • while driving: press the paddle on the left-hand steering wheel to reduce the regenerative braking level and deactivate the function,
  • from a standstill: press the brake pedal, then the paddle on the left-hand side of the steering wheel, to reduce the regenerative braking level and deactivate the function.
The message "one-pedal deactivated" will appear on the instrument panel, confirming that the function has been deactivated.

Good to know: the function deactivates automatically when the engine is switched off.
Does one-pedal remain active after each restart?
The one-pedal function must be reactivated each time the vehicle is restarted, at the driver's discretion. If it was active at standstill, the vehicle will automatically restart with a lower level of regenerative braking. As a reminder, one-pedal corresponds to the maximum regenerative braking level, allowing you to come to a complete stop.
Does the one-pedal function completely replace the brake pedal?
Although the one pedal function allows you to decelerate to a complete stop, it does not replace the brake pedal and does not perform an emergency stop.
The brake pedal remains indispensable for emergency stops and harder braking.
What happens if I need to brake harder in an emergency?
If necessary, use the brake pedal for emergency braking. The one-pedal function does not replace the traditional braking system in these situations.
