distance warning
Your distance warning system uses a radar sensor located at the front of the vehicle. The front sensor calculates safe stopping distances and triggers an audible and visual warning if there is a risk of collision.
predictive eco-driving advice
To optimise fuel consumption in your Renault Austral you will be provided with functions and information that help you to assess and adjust your driving style. If you are approaching a roundabout, onboard navigation data* will inform the system to warn you to stop accelerating thus making better use of your car’s energy.

When on a gradient of more than 3%, you activate the system by maintaining brake pressure for 2 seconds.

After detecting that there is a sufficient parking space, it sets the vehicle's trajectory and then takes control of the steering. And of course you retain control of the accelerator, braking and gears.

LED matrix vision
Automatic switching between high and dipped beams. It is activated by a camera located at the top of the windscreen. The system automatically adjusts the shape of the light beam to the traffic and weather conditions to avoid glare and optimises night vision.

Activated from 15 km/h, it uses light signals to warn you of vehicles that are outside of your field of vision.
lane change warning
Based on information coming from the camera, the function warns the driver in case of crossing a line (continuous or broken) or approaching a roadside (median, barrier, pavement, embankment, etc.).
traffic sign recognition with speed alert
Using a camera positioned at the top of the windscreen, it informs you of speed limits via the openR screen and heads-up display and alerts you if you exceed the speed limit.

active emergency braking system city/suburban and with pedestrian/cyclist detection
Using the radar sensor, the system calculates the distance separating Renault Austral from the vehicle in front and alerts the driver if there is a risk of a front-end collision. The driver can then apply the brakes, but if the system still detects a risk of collision, the brake force is increased. If the driver fails to react, the system activates the brakes automatically.
active emergency braking system with intersection function
When you turn left, the system calculates the distance between Renault Austral and the vehicle you are passing and alerts the driver if there is a risk of a head-on collision. The driver can then apply the brakes, but if the system still detects a risk of collision, the brake force is increased. If the driver fails to react, the system applies the brakes automatically.
rear automatic emergency braking
Your vehicle will automatically brake if there is an obstacle behind your vehicle when reversing.
rear cross traffic alert
Be alerted in case of an approaching obstacle from the rear corner.
lane departure warning
Using a camera fixed on the windscreen behind the rearview mirror, the system detects if a continuous or broken line is accidentally crossed and warns the driver.
lane keeping assist
Activated from 70 km/h, the system counter steers to bring your vehicle back into its lane if it crosses a continuous or broken line without using the indicators.
rear detection with emergency trajectory correction
The vehicle warns you or corrects the trajectory automatically if it detects a possible collision when changing lanes.
front detection with emergency trajectory correction
If the system detects a collision risk with a vehicle overtaking or approaching head-on while you’re changing lanes, it alerts you and immediately adjusts your trajectory.

Your vehicle warns your passengers in case of danger when opening a door.

The system will detect any loss of focus in your reactions and suggest you take a break from driving.
